PLANNING
YOUR NEW WEB SITE
|
|
The
Domain Name
The first consideration in putting together
a Web Site will be the domain name.
It is important and should reflect what your
web site is to do. Are you going to inform?
Are you going to sell a product? The domain
name should reflect that purpose. It will
also help people find you once the web site
is in place. Remember, there are millions of
web sites out there and you can and may get
lost in them. A dedicated Domain Name is
a must have. Search engines will not
list you if you don't have a YourName.Com.

The Web Site Lay Out
The best way to decide how your site will be
put together is to lay it out on paper
first. Just like you would design a house.
First you enter the front door or Front
page. After you are inside the front door
(home page), there should be some options.
Two to eight options (Service, Sales, Order
pages, Information. In turn, each of these
pages can have from one to a hundred pages |
Building the Web
Site
After you have selected your Domain Name and
you have your layout down on paper. It is
time to begin with the Home Page. If you are
doing the page yourself or Abraham Lincoln
Graphics is doing the work. This can be very
time consuming. You must choose the color of
the background and or the background gif.
you will use throughout the site. Any
pictures or Logo's should also be done now.
If we are building the site for you, we
build this page first so that you may OK the
project before the site is built. All text
and picture's must be provided as we start
your web site. |
How does the
process work?
After your Home Page is completed. We do
each page and section one at a time. You get
to see each page before it can be seen on
the net. It is up to you when it is placed
on the net. Some are placed on the net one
page at a time. Again some people want the
site up all at the same time. |
How do you Pay?
Each site is different and depends on the
size and detail. A small business site of
between 6 to 14 pages. Normally we want 1/3
down, another 1/3 when it is half done and
the balance when the site is approved as
completed. |
How long does it
take?
A
site the size of the one described above can
be completed in about a week. When we get
your request and information on the site you
want us to build. We will return a quote to
you that will include a price and a time
line for completion. |
